    Team 254′s Zero Robotics Team Competing on International Space Station

    Team 254 competes annually in the Zero Robotics Competition, a software-only challenge where students control miniature satellites. The preliminary stages of the competition occur in a computer simulation. However, Team 254′s alliance ranked number one in the country and has the opportunity to have its software run on actual miniature satellites on the International Space Station.

    Two Team 254 Leaders named Intel Science Talent Search Semi-Finalists

    Two team 254 leaders were among a number of bay area students named semi-finalists in the annual Intel Science Talent Search. Saurabh Sharan and Nikhil Desai were recognized for their work in science research and were interviewed for ABC 7.

    Longtime Mentors Hired by Moon Express

    In September 2011, three longtime Team 254 mentors were hired by Moon Express, a contender for the Google Lunar X Prize. EJ Sabathia, Cory McBride, and Krystine Thoroughman will be working on the newly created “Moon Express Robotics Lab for Innovation” (MERLIN) project. EJ and Krystine are alumni of Team 254 and Cory has been mentoring since 2006.

    i.am.FIRST Special

    In August 2011, Team 254 was featured in the i.am.FIRST TV Special on ABC Primetime. Team 254 is one of several teams featured in the special and is said to be a dominant “force of nature” in the competitive robotics community.

    Team 254 in Robot Magazine

    Teams 254 and 1868 are featured in a 3 page article in the September/October edition of Robot Magazine. We were interviewed back at the Bay Area Maker Faire in May. Check out the article on pages 39-41!


    TEDx San Jose, CA

    Team 254 presented two of our robots at TEDx San Jose, CA on July 13th. Shockwave and the World Champion Slipstream were present. Several members from Team 254 even brought Shockwave on stage and shot t-shirts into the crowd at Santana Row.


    “Bellarmine team wins FIRST robotics world championship”

    “The Cheesy Poofs, the award-winning robotics team at Bellarmine College Preparatory, scored another victory last week, winning the FIRST Robotics Competition Championship in St. Louis, Mo.

    Shockwave in Sports Illustrated

    Team 254′s Shockwave T-Shirt Cannon was featured in the November 8th Issue of Sports Illustrated Magazine.


    Shockwave on Gizmodo

    Shockwave, Team 254′s dramatic T-shirt shooting robot was featured on the homepage of Gizmodo, a major technology blog.

    San Jose Sharks Street Rally

    Team 254′s T-Shirt Cannon made an appearance in San Jose on October 16, 2010 at a Street Rally for the San Jose Sharks, a professional hockey team. The Sharks played their first home game on the 16th against the Atlanta Thrashers and celebrated the occasion with a pre-game street rally.

    In September 2003, Team 254 was heavily featured in the “FIRST Robotics 2003″ special on The Science Channel. A team from Discovery followed Team 254 through its build and competition season and footage was incorporated into the documentary.
