Objective

Create an output shaft for a shifting gearbox from a drawing.

How-To

If None Of this Makes Sense, Watch the Videos Before for a Demonstration of How To Model the Shaft.

  • Download drawing from "Files" section below.
  • Use extrudes to create base geometry of shaft, starting from largest hex in center.
  • Use extrudes and chamfers to create snapring grooves on either end of the shaft.
  • Use extrude cuts to create slot & hole in shaft.
  • Don't forget the small fillet of radius .03"

Part One

Part one starts at the creation of the large hex, through the creation of a round and the medium hex.

Part Two

Part two starts from the creation of the small round segment, creates the small hex, creates the round segment on the other side of the large hex and ends after the creation of the first snapring groove at the wheel end.

Part Three

Part three starts with the creation of the inner snapring groove, creates the slot in the large hex and finishes with the hole through the shaft.
