Team 254 at Discovery Day

Giving Back

Team 254 VEX and FRC students travel to Sacred Heart Nativity School to mentor the aspiring robotics leaders of tomorrow.

Team 254 is very fortunate to possess certain resources not available to other teams. Because of this, our team is devoted to spreading our resources to other teams in the form of outreach.

Since the beginning of our team, we have used our skills in robotics and engineering to spread interest in STEM all over the world. Team 254 hosts and supports events such as Chezy Champs, a post-season FRC tournament that brings together many of the strongest teams in the region, and Bell FTC, a FIRST Tech Challenge event for local teams. In the past, we also hosted online learning events such as ChezyCAD to help students build CAD and engineering skills. These events give other teams an opportunity to compete, collaborate, and learn from Team 254 members.

Community Involvement

Team 254 drives their T-shirt cannon, Shockwave, at the annual Rose, White, and Blue event based in San Jose.

In addition to working with individual teams, Team 254 is lucky enough to have an 80% size practice field. When mentor supervision and school access allow, the team opens the field to other teams during the build and competition season. If you would like to learn more about the field, visit our FRC field page or contact the team to confirm current availability.

While spreading interest in STEM all over the world, we are especially involved within our own local San Jose communities. We have a fundamental partnership with the SJPL system and have hosted many events ranging from Silicon Valley Reads partnerships to current monthly events every third Tuesday at the Rose Garden Branch Library. Mentoring local middle school robotics and our fellow FIRST teams are some of the ways we engage with local STEM student communities. Our most prolific outreach has been in partnerships with local museums, where we have partnered with events at the Bay Area Science Festival, The Tech Interactive, the Computer History Museum, Bellarmine football games, the Children’s Discovery Museum, and many more. If you are interested, we’d be more than happy to schedule something. For more information, email our outreach directors.

Team 254’s extensive mentoring throughout the years forms an integral part of its team history, and we are proud to spread STEM and FIRST throughout the West Coast and elsewhere.
