Partner with Team 254
The success of Team 254 is built on a partnership between our school, industry, and the community. Sponsorships and donations, both monetary and in kind, provide the resources our students need to design and build competition robots and to grow into the next generation of engineers and scientists.
Who We Are
Based at Bellarmine College Preparatory in San Jose, California, Team 254 brings high school students together through FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) and FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC). For over 25 years, we have grown from five students in 1998 into a program of about 100 members that connects young people with engineering and industry mentors. As a nonprofit program, we rely on sponsorships and donations, both monetary and in kind, to keep it running.
Our history includes 71 blue banners, five FIRST World Championship wins, and the 2004 FIRST Championship Chairman’s Award (now the FIRST Impact Award), which inducted us into the FIRST Hall of Fame. Our students have also been named Dean’s List Finalists in 2013 and 2024. But the lasting result is what students take with them: technical skills, confidence, friendships, and experience working toward a shared goal.
What We Do
Students design, manufacture, assemble, program, and test competition robots. Working alongside experienced mentors, they use professional hardware and software and learn how to solve problems as a team.
- Engineering: CAD, machining, electrical systems, and programming.
- Leadership: Communication, collaboration, business, fundraising, and media.
- Experience: Planning and running Chezy Champs, our offseason FRC tournament, and building projects such as Shockwave, our T-shirt cannon.
These experiences help students explore STEM careers and prepare for challenges in college and beyond. Our alumni have gone on to work at companies including Google, Johnson & Johnson, and Intuitive Surgical.
Outreach
Sponsorship reaches beyond our own robots. We mentor other FIRST teams, share technical experience, and help younger students discover engineering.
At the FIRST Championship, we work with other teams to staff the Team Service Center, helping hundreds of teams access spare parts and advice. Closer to home, we demonstrate robotics at STEM fairs and museums, bringing hands-on engineering into our community.
